Marga van Vuuren
Practitioner Psychologist

Marga van Vuuren

Marga van Vuuren has more than 16 years of clinical experience in the private sector, community services, inpatient services, and in management.

In addition to her therapeutic work, Marga has knowledge and experience in specialist psychological assessment and interventions with complex clients. She is an integrative practitioner specialising in third-wave cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with an understanding for time-limited work.

Specialist areas include:

  • Assessment and formulation
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Complex co-morbid presentations
  • Mood disorders

Further training:

  • Mindfulness based CBT
  • Compassion focused therapy (CFT)
  • DBT Skills
  • Mindfulness-based CBT (MBCBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • EMDR

I draw from various other approaches such as the humanistic model, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) interventions to tailor treatment to the individual’s presentation and issues. I also use eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), which is a very helpful intervention for problems related to trauma.
