About

Martyn is an experienced and fully accredited cognitive behavioural therapist with the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP), and has many years working within NHS settings. Martyn specialises in working with adults with common mental health problems, including depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), specific phobias, panic disorder, low self-esteem, anger management issues, bereavement and insomnia. Martyn is also a trained mindfulness teacher and has many years running mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) in group settings. Martyn has also many years of experience working with vulnerable groups, including adults with learning disabilities, and problematic alcohol users at risk of homelessness.

Position at Priory

I am a fully accredited cognitive behavioural therapist with the BABCP, and am a trained and experienced mindfulness teacher.

  • Fully trained in delivering MBCT to both groups and in individuals.

Martyn also has had many years of continuing professional development (CPD) training, which will continue throughout his professional career.

Research Interests

My undergraduate research project explored the relationship between level of alcohol use and perceptual bias to alcohol-related stimuli. My MSc dissertation focused on the relationship between depression and religiosity. I have a wide interest in all areas of psychological research, particularly cognitive behavioural and mindfulness interventions for common mental health problems in adult populations.
