About
Dr Naresh Rasquinha is a consultant psychiatrist at Priory Wellbeing Centre Canterbury.
Dr Rasquinha has extensive experience in the assessment and management of mental health conditions, with particular interest and expertise in anxiety disorders, affective disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychosis, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders and addictions.
He has extensive experience of working as a consultant psychiatrist in a wide variety of settings, including medium security, low security, rehabilitation, personality disorder, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs) and acute wards. He has worked at the national psychosis service, national ADHD service and the national addictions service at the Maudsley Hospital.
Dr Rasquinha has been a medical director for healthcare organisations since 2016 and has held various management positions, including corporate physical health lead, corporate suicide prevention lead, reducing restrictive practice lead, clinical audit and research lead, Caldicott guardian and medical appraiser.
He has held various positions at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), including executive member of the faculty of rehabilitation and social psychiatry, member of the board of examiners, joint mentoring lead (West Midlands division) and deputy chair of the accreditation committee of the quality network for working adults (QNWA).
Dr Rasquinha takes an individualised approach to patient care, utilising comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to develop tailored treatment plans. He is committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, while ensuring compassionate, patient-centred care. His extensive management experience has equipped him with unique insights into healthcare delivery and service improvement.
He was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2022 as a mark of distinction and recognition for his contributions to psychiatry.
Position at Priory
Dr Rasquinha joined Priory Wellbeing Centre Canterbury as a consultant psychiatrist in January 2025.
Training
Dr Rasquinha graduated with MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, India in 2004. He completed his psychiatric training in the UK in the Northern Deanery and South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, achieving his MRCPsych in October 2010 and receiving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Psychiatry in February 2014. He completed his Diploma in Mental Health Law from Northumbria University in 2013. He was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2022.
Research interests
Dr Rasquinha was a visiting clinical researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry. He has published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences and has been recognised with awards, including the European Psychiatric Association Travel Grant 2013.
