Mental health problems are common, can cause a lot of suffering and can impact on relationships, work, family, partners and all aspects of day-to-day life. They are treatable, and helping people recover means using the best evidence and finding the right treatment for you.
Steven is a consultant psychiatrist working in the NHS in Birmingham and Solihull, where he runs a specialist mood disorders clinic. Steven is also a professor of psychiatry at a Birmingham University, and a visiting consultant at Priory Hospital Barnt Green.
He has been a consultant psychiatrist for over 15 years and has worked in many areas of the country and in different areas of psychiatry, including general adult psychiatry, mood disorders (for example, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder), and personality disorders and psychosis services.
Steven provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of mental health problems, including anxiety and depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, psychosis and personality disorders.
Position at Priory
Steven is pleased to be a visiting consultant at Priory Hospital Barnt Green since 2024.
Research interests
Steven is a chief investigator and co-investigator on a range of research studies investigating the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder and ADHD.
