About
I am an enthusiastic, motivated and highly experienced chartered psychologist. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults for over 25 years, in both the NHS and private sector. I have extensive knowledge and experience of working with people and their families, with issues that can affect the entire lifespan and reflect a range of clinical severity, making me adaptable and innovative in my approach.
The breadth of my experience includes working with clients from varying social, economic and ethnic backgrounds, enabling me to deal with people's differences and challenges in a culturally-sensitive way. I am able to draw upon my own experiences by bringing my whole self to the therapy session. It is integral that I am authentic with my clients, in building connection and rapport, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
As an integrative psychologist, the foundation of my practice is to adopt a humanistic approach; keeping the values of the person at the heart of the therapy. I have a particular interest in the mind-body connection and treat my clients holistically; our emotions impact us psychologically and physically.
My therapeutic approaches include person-centred therapy (PCT), art therapy, play-informed therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions and the safe and sound protocol (SSP).
My current specialisms are working with attachment and trauma. I also have extensive experience in working with neurodiverse clients. I have expertise in working with young people and adults and those with complex trauma.
Areas of interest: attachment and trauma, bereavement and loss, family and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, low self-esteem, life-changing illness and injury, health difficulties, life transitions, divorce counselling, substance misuse, LGBTQ issues and transitioning.
