Rosalyn Smith

Integrative Therapist

About

Rosalyn (Roz) is an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, grounded in a humanistic approach that places the individual at the centre of the therapeutic process. She believes that each person has an innate capacity for growth and self-understanding, and her role is to support that process within a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space.

Her work draws on a range of therapeutic models, including person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural approaches, allowing her to tailor sessions to each individual’s unique needs, experiences and goals. This integrative way of working enables her to respond flexibly, while remaining rooted in core humanistic values of empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard.

Roz offers a reflective and collaborative environment where clients can explore challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity and life transitions. She views the therapeutic relationship as central to the work, creating a space where clients feel heard, valued and understood.

By integrating different modalities, she supports clients in developing self-awareness, resilience and practical ways of navigating life’s complexities. She works at a pace that feels right for each person, respecting their autonomy and lived experience.

Whether someone is facing a specific difficulty or seeking deeper personal growth, Roz provides a compassionate and thoughtful space to help them move forward.

Prior to her position at Priory, she spent several years counselling individuals for a local hospice, worked as a sessional therapist within the private sector, and maintained a private practice.

Research interests

Rosalyn (Roz) has undertaken a research project exploring teenage self-harm and the impact of the internet. This work examined how online spaces can both influence and reinforce self-harming behaviours, while also recognising the potential for digital platforms to offer support, connection and recovery-focused resources.

Her research highlighted the complex relationship between vulnerability, social media exposure and help-seeking behaviours in young people, informing a balanced and thoughtful approach to working with adolescents in a digital age.
