Shannon is an integrative-based clinical psychologist who obtained her degree in clinical psychology from her home country of South Africa. Shannon's passion lies in understanding individuals and the contexts that shape them. She is a firm believer in self-love and embracing one's truth by uncovering patients' strengths, needs and interests. Her ultimate goal is to help individuals identify the origins of their challenges and empower them to lead fulfilling lives.
With expertise in working with both adults and children (over the age of 8 years), Shannon adopts an integrative approach tailored to each individual's unique needs. Her particular interests lie in employing narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), gestalt therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-focused CBT, psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy (PCT) and mindfulness-based therapy.
Her experience includes working with a broad range of psychological experiences, such as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, personality disorders, behavioural and emotional disorders in children, grief and loss.
As a diligent, compassionate and authentic professional, Shannon brings her true self to every session. Her motto, ‘you were given this life because you are strong enough to live it’, reflects her core belief in the power of resilience and self-love. She strives to create a safe and supportive environment where her clients can embark on their journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
Drawing inspiration from Carl Jung's wisdom, "Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens," Shannon encourages her clients to delve within themselves and awaken their inner strength.
Position at Priory
Shannon is a clinical psychologist who has been working with Priory since January as a valued member of both the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) outpatient team and the adult outpatient team. Her role involves providing psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. Shannon is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice and ethical conduct.
