The burnout paradox – how improving your own wellbeing can lead to better patient care

Presented by: Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Ed Burns and Counselling Psychologist, Dr Samantha Cobb

The pressures of increased workplace demands and balancing family and financial responsibilities have caused many people in the UK to suffer from ‘burnout’.

Many are seeking support for stress and burnout from their GPs, who are themselves struggling with burnout at an alarming rate. Worryingly, GP burnout was recently described in an article by the British Medical Journal as having reached an “epidemic level”.

Watch our webinar recording where Dr Ed Burns and Dr Samantha Cobb explore the impact of burnout on GPs. Their educational session provides advice to GPs to help them manage their own mental health and wellbeing, enabling them to better support their patients.

Both presenters are based at Priory's flagship hospital in Roehampton, and work together to provide individualised clinical and therapeutic programmes for people requiring mental health support.
