Therapy Dog

Happy is a four year old rescue dog from Egypt. She is a cross breed, although looks very much like a Maltese. Happy loves hugs and a lot of fuss, she enjoys human companionship and she likes to comfort people. Happy comes to site once a week to support our clients in their recovery.

it has been shown that interacting with animals can decrease levels of cortisol which is a stress related hormone and can lower blood pressure. Studies have also shown that interacting with dogs can reduce feelings of loneliness, increase a sense of social support and really increase mood. One study showed that therapy dogs can help clients with ADHD focus their attention better and can create a sense of calm.

Dogs are very “present” creatures and know how to sit with the human and be loving. Happy provides all of these benefits to our clients at Lifeworks, increasing their sense of emotional wellbeing.
