Our strength is that we can provide a seamless transition for the individual as they progress between higher and lower dependency services.
Most people who stay with us are supported to return back home once they are well enough. If a young person in our care reaches 18 years of age and has ongoing needs, we can provide additional support through our rehabilitation and recovery (R&R) services and NHS service lines. We also work closely with local young people’s services in Stroud, Priory Hospital Althea and The Lighthouse.
Education provision
As part of our CAMHS service, we also provide an Ofsted-registered independent school, Roehampton Hospital School, which allows our residents to access a high quality education curriculum. Our priority is to provide everyone who stays with us with the care and education they need to go on to live a fulfilling and happy life.
You can contact the Head Teacher, Russell Cooper, for additional information.

Comments from our patients and their family and friends
Staff are very supportive and helpful. They have kept us informed along the way of our loved one’s care
Information for family and friends
How do home visits work?
We fully support home visits, where safe and appropriate. Home visits are assessed on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with the people who are staying with us, their families and carers.
What is your visitation policy?
We are flexible with visiting times. However, we do ask that visits are organised around any planned treatment and by appointment, so we can fully support needs and ensure they are a positive experience for all.
Will I be involved and kept up to date with my loved one’s care and wellbeing?
Yes, we make every effort to keep the loved ones of our residents involved in their care.
Will my loved one be able to have a phone or call me?
People staying with us are allowed to use their own mobile phone and support can be given, where needed, for telephone calls.
What type of things are families expected to provide, and what is provided by the home?
We provide all essentials on-site. People staying with us can bring clothing, toiletries and any personal items with them.
What are the bedrooms like?
All of our bedrooms are furnished, modern and welcoming, and residents are supported to personalise them to suit their needs and wishes. They are all single person, en-suite rooms.
Are external doors kept locked?
All of our external doors are locked, for patient safety. However, every person staying with us will be individually assessed for any risks to see what security is needed. Staff are always on hand to support access, where appropriate.
What do service users eat and how do meal times work?
All meals are provided and we actively encourage people to have an input into the planning of menus. All specialist diets are catered for. Snacks and drinks can also be made or requested whenever they wish.
How does laundry work?
We have laundry facilities on-site so everyone can do their own washing and drying. Our staff are available to support, if needed.
Is there anything they can’t bring or have?
We have a restricted and prohibited items list, which is reviewed and updated regularly. This can be seen on request, and will be provided to everyone prior to admission. This might be specific to the ward the person is on, or their specific therapy needs.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, pets cannot stay on-site. We do offer animal therapy on-site but can’t be responsible for individuals’ own pets.
How do activities work?
While people are staying with us, we make sure they have the chance to get out and about in the community, which plays a key role in their recovery by helping them to regain independence. We have excellent links with local leisure facilities, and we’re also very close to Richmond Park, London’s largest royal park. There are also lots of shops, libraries, supermarkets and community colleges within walking distance, or just a short bus ride away from Roehampton. This means that people can still keep up with their hobbies and interests during their treatment programme.
Do service users and families have an input into the service user’s care plans?
All of the people staying with us and their families/friends are invited to have input into their care plans.
What are the car parking facilities?
We have a large carpark on-site.
What is the smoking policy? Can service users buy cigarettes?
Roehampton is a non-smoking site. We can provide smoking cessation support.
How is treatment accessed and funded?
We don’t take referrals directly from individuals and families. Instead, the first step will be for you to reach out to the person’s GP so that they can be referred and funded through the correct NHS channel. Depending on the type of support needed, this could include local authority funding, NHS funding, joint funding between the local authority and NHS, or direct payments. Please note, referrals for NHS or local authority funded services must come from a referring organisation.
We also provide a private service where funding can be accessed via private medical insurance, or individuals can self-pay. For more information, please visit Priory Hospital Roehampton.
How to make a referral
Our customer service centre provides 24/7 support for NHS mental health enquiries and referrals. Our customer referral co-ordinators can support you from your first call right through to the enquiry conclusion, providing updates throughout the process. We offer 24/7 crisis referrals, fast access to bed availability and placements, and a single access point for end-to-end enquiry management.
