About this location

Sandyhurst is a supported living service, offering support to four adults who are on the autism spectrum, have a learning disability, or mental health needs.

The service is located in Ashford in Kent and forms part of Priory Supported Living Kent. It falls within the Kent local authority area and is managed by Inclusion Housing, the housing provider.

Our specialist support enables people to live happy and fulfilling lives, in their own home, within their community. We can also support people under community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

At Sandyhurst, we are committed to reflecting the guidance of The Reach Standards in everything we do. This means we work with our tenants to ensure they receive the right support to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Everybody who lives at Sandyhurst has their own person-centred support plan, which is co-produced with input from the individual, their family members, and professionals.

We aim to enable each tenant to make their own choices about the support they receive. This may include support in a number of areas, such as upkeep of personal care, managing medication, food preparation and cooking, cleaning and laundry, managing finances including budgeting and debt management, how to maintain a tenancy, holding down relationships with family and friends, support with a healthy diet and exercise, and booking and attending health appointments.

Our support approaches at Sandyhurst include positive behaviour support (PBS). In addition, our team receive specialist staff training, bespoke to the needs of each individual we support. This includes:

  • Autism awareness training
  • Mental health training

Tenants at Sandyhurst are supported to pursue their own interests and hobbies, both in and outside the home, and are encouraged to take part in activities which are meaningful and fulfilling to them.

We focus on supporting tenants to grow their independence. For some people, this may mean developing their daily living skills within their home. For others, this could be accessing work or educational opportunities in the local community.

This also includes:

  • Cinema trips
  • Carriage riding
  • National Trust days out
  • Visiting the cycle park
  • Picnics
  • Football

Through our network of healthcare, residential and supported living facilities, we provide unique care pathways which enable the people we support to progress towards greater independence. Every individual we support is provided with a bespoke pathway plan, tailored according to their individual needs. We aim to ensure that each person is supported to live a fulfilling and active life in the community.
