‘Good’ rating across the board for local mental health hospital which provides specialist care
- Staff were praised for being “kind and caring” and understanding patients’ needs
- Relatives felt staff treated their family members with “respect” and had been “very supportive”
- The hospital offered paid work opportunities to help patients get jobs once they were discharged
A specialist rehabilitation hospital, Priory Hospital Lincolnshire, has been rated ‘good’ by the health and social care regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The Priory Hospital Lincolnshire, located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, has 28 beds over two wards, to support patients with mental illness and personality disorders. The hospital provides treatment for those requiring rehabilitation, stabilisation and reintegration into the community.
In its inspection report, the CQC rated the service ‘good’ across all five categories: “is the service safe”, “effective”, “caring”, “well-led” and “responsive”.
The report said: “The range of therapies and activities available to patients was extensive and of high quality.”
Relatives told the CQC: “Staff treated relatives with respect and staff had kept them involved in their family members’ progress. One carer told us staff had been very supportive of them when they were going through a difficult time with their family member.”
The CQC commented on the facilities available; the site has spacious outdoor grounds as well as a computer room and gym for patients to use. Patients are also encouraged to attend courses at local colleges, and visit the local leisure centre.
Palmer Chinosengwa, Hospital Director, said: “We are delighted to have been rated ‘good’ overall by the CQC. My team works incredibly hard to ensure that the best care is provided to our patients and we aim to help them learn skills which are necessary for community living. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards the successful running of our hospital.”
Paul Pritchard, Managing Director for the north region of Priory Healthcare, part of the Priory Group of mental health hospitals and Wellbeing Centres, said: “I would like to thank Palmer and everyone at the Priory Hospital Lincolnshire for their hard work and for achieving such a fantastic CQC report.”
