Priory Healthcare official partner of The Shaw Mind Foundation

Priory Healthcare, the leading independent provider of mental healthcare in the UK, is to partner with the charity, The Shaw Mind Foundation. They aim to develop innovative ways to support children and the next generation to flourish and cope with the emotional demands of modern day life. They also support businesses to shape positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The two organisations are working together to increase awareness of mental health conditions. This work includes a focus on addressing ways of tacking stress and anxiety amongst young people.

Priory Healthcare is supporting a bike ride organised by The Shaw Mind Foundation and Hope Virgo, a mental health campaigner and author of Stand Tall Little Girl. On

September 24, participants including Hope, will begin an enduring 1000 mile ride across the UK from Lands’ End to John O’ Groats.

Hope and other cyclists will call into some of Priory’s hospitals throughout the route and share their expertise and personal experiences of recovery from mental health conditions. They will also call into schools, which are operated by Priory Healthcare’s sister provider, Priory Education and Children’s Services. The money raised from the fundraiser will go towards providing training and education in schools.

Priory will also organise other fundraisers to support the charity, and they will include a focus on improving awareness about mental health amongst young people.

Priory Healthcare is the UK’s largest independent mental healthcare provider, treating young people and adults across its inpatient and outpatient services.  Priory Healthcare provides a range of children and adolescent mental health services for the NHS and for private patients in its hospitals and Wellbeing Centres.

Dr Sylvia Tang, CEO at Priory Healthcare, said: “Priory Healthcare is delighted to be the official charity partner of The Shaw Mind Foundation, giving them additional exposure of their great work and a platform to promote their key objectives. We are really pleased to be working with a charity which understands and promotes mental health, and mental health education, at work, in school and at home, and hope that as many of our staff as possible will support our fundraising efforts.”

Dr Tang added, “Our joint passion is to help all people across the UK access swift help for mental health conditions, and live a full life in good mental as well as physical health. When partnering with a charity, we felt it was important that our aims and ambitions were aligned. We felt that The Shaw Mind Foundation Mental Health was totally focused on the wellbeing of every person they work with – as we are.”
