Priory has significantly outperformed national quality benchmarks across both adult social care and healthcare services, according to the latest regulatory data.
Across its adult care services, 88% of Priory services are rated ‘Good’ or better, which is 13.6 percentage points above the national average.
In healthcare, 86% of Priory services are rated ‘Good’ or better, exceeding the national average for equivalent services, including NHS providers, by 19.1 percentage points. Across both adult care and healthcare, Priory has zero ‘Inadequate’ ratings.
Priory is the largest independent provider of mental health, addiction and working-age adult social care services in the UK, with 270 sites supporting 26,000 people a year.
The results reflect sustained improvement across quality, outcomes and workforce engagement, as set out in Priory’s latest Quality Account published earlier this year.
Over the past year, Priory has strengthened its focus on measurable outcomes, with 86% of acute patients and 89% of residents in specialist services reporting improved mental wellbeing, alongside 94% family satisfaction.
The organisation has also expanded the use of patient and clinician reported outcome measures (PROMs and CROMs), enabling more transparent tracking of recovery across conditions such as anxiety, depression and psychosis.
Quality improvements have also included a continued reduction in restrictive practices, with seclusion reduced by 83%, and the further rollout of evidence-based models such as Positive Behaviour Support, which has halved placement breakdowns for people with learning disabilities and autism since 2019.
Priory has complemented clinical focus with investment in its workforce and systems. Staff engagement reached a record 78%, turnover fell to its lowest level since 2018 and digital innovations such as the Nourish care system have released 184,000 staff hours back to frontline care.

Colin Quick, Chief Quality Officer and Chief Nurse at Priory, said:
“These results reflect the dedication of our colleagues and our long-term focus on quality, safety and outcomes for people with complex mental health, addiction and adult social care needs.
“Delivering consistently high standards across a large and complex organisation is not easy, so highlighting the impact the hard work of all colleagues is having and the difference they are making to people’s lives is extremely important.
“We want to continue developing our partnerships with the NHS, local authorities and commissioners as we enter the new year, providing high-quality capacity, specialist pathways and outcomes-focused care as a key part of the health and social care system.”
