Calverton Hill’s Recovery College is facilitated and run by our occupational therapists and supported by our recovery workers.
Staff from all departments and specialties (nurses, social workers, admin staff, training and housekeeping), as well as patients run our Recovery College workshops.
The occupational therapy team
Our occupational therapy team consists of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and fitness instructors. Our team is led by a lead occupational therapist.
As well as coordinating the Recovery College, our occupational therapy team provide therapeutic groups and interventions across all of our wards.
The recovery workers
Our recovery workers facilitate fun and enjoyable activities on the ward, which complement the therapy programme. They also encourage people to plan their days.
The Recovery College administrator
This is a real work role which is undertaken by one of our patients. The administrator takes the register, collects the feedback and does other administrative tasks such as writing thank you cards for people who have led workshops.
The planning group
Once each term the planning group meets. The group is made up of people who run and attend the Recovery College. At this meeting we decide on the format our that classes will take and what will be included.
