Priory Hospital High Wycombe is a detached, purpose-built learning disabilities unit, offering comprehensive tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in a low secure setting for adolescents with a learning disability or autism, in a safe and secure environment.

Set within its own private grounds in a quiet, residential area, High Wycombe is a 12-bedded facility that delivers expert, multidisciplinary treatment for young people. All services are delivered in partnership with the NHS and structured cost frameworks are provided for commissioners and referring healthcare professionals.

Our approach

Our comprehensive CAMHS learning disability offering at High Wycombe serves as an expansion of the services that we provide at Priory Ellingham Hospital, and is suitable for:

  • Male and female patients aged between 13 and 17 years
  • Those who have diagnoses of learning disabilities or autism and a concurrent mental illness requiring detention in a low secure setting

The CAMHS learning disability offering aims to provide the young people in our care with:

  • Expert, individualised care in a safe, secure and highly supportive setting
  • The ability for patients to transition between services as appropriate
  • Clear, effective treatment pathways
  • A Care Programme Approach (CPA) that fully involves the patient and their families/carers
  • Strong links with educational and community agencies, enabling patients to maximise their life opportunities
  • Outcome-driven and evidence-based interventions and care plans, flexible to individuals’ needs
  • Access to a wide range of psychological therapies
  • Highly-skilled multidisciplinary team
  • High staffing ratios
  • Close collaboration with referrers and commissioners with a multi-agency approach to help transition out of the service
