Oaktree Manor specialises in working with men and women with severe challenging behaviour in a low secure setting. Our patients present with a primary diagnosis of learning disability and sensory impairment, with high risks of challenging behaviours and a forensic history. Patients may also be diagnosed with co-existing conditions of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), Asperger syndrome, mental health issues or personality disorder.
Our recovery-focused therapy and activities empower patients to increase their emotional resilience and learn to manage their behaviour and reduce the risk of relapse.
Oaktree Manor benefits from five, eight-bedded wards, and a seven-bedded single-sex ward. Each ward offers:
- Designated communal lounges
- Dining areas
- A kitchen
- Quiet areas
Two wards also have sensory rooms and three wards have seclusion facilities.
Patient activities at Oaktree Manor
Oaktree Manor also benefits from having a dedicated occupational therapy centre which is a unique on-site educational, recreational and rehabilitation centre that provides a range of activities. These activities aim to improve patients’ social and educational independence, in conjunction with their individual treatment programmes, which are offered seven days a week. It also provides a range of vocational activities such as:
- Art, cookery, creative writing and photography
- Sensory garden with horticultural areas, greenhouse, and animal centre
- A patient shop, library and computer room
- A range of sporting facilities including outdoor gym equipment
The occupational therapy centre is also an Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Centre (ASDAN) which supports patients to complete GCSE and NVQ equivalent courses in life skills or academic subjects and a range of vocational activities /courses.
We also offer a Real Work Opportunities (RWOs) Programme at Oaktree Manor. The RWO Programme supports patients to identify and develop job-specific skills, strengths and experiences. We offer a range of on-site and (where possible) community based RWOs which develop the skills of individual patients, further preparing them for a community based placement.
