We continually seek feedback from our Recovery College participants in terms of what they found to be effective, and the ways in which we could improve. Read what our patients have to say here.

“I found it difficult to motivate myself to attend on-ward sessions. My occupational therapist knew I previously enjoyed making jewellery prior to my hospital admission and encouraged me to participate in the jewellery making course. I found it really therapeutic to be working with my hands again and it’s so rewarding when I see the finished product. It was nice to be able to sell some of these at the recent summer fete. It made me feel good about myself knowing that people wanted to buy jewellery that was made by me.”

“I look forward to volunteering at Cardiff Dogs Home every week. It makes me feel nice because I’m doing something for someone else, rather than myself.”

“I have always struggled to read and write but I managed to hide this well. Since having community leave, I have struggled to read street signs and bus times etc. Completing the ‘learning to read’ programme has helped me to be more independent in the community.”

“Cooking skills has allowed me to be independent whilst in a secure setting. I have particularly enjoyed learning to cook on a budget as this is a skill I will need when living in the community.”
