At Priory, we pride ourselves on providing a high quality treatment experience for each and every one of our patients. We are dedicated to developing treatment journeys that are tailored to individual needs and structured within National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
We are able to deliver expert treatment to adults who are struggling with mental health problems, eating disorders and addictions, as well as offering a dedicated private service for children's mental health.
About our Programmes
Our treatment programmes address the unique difficulties faced by our patients and evaluate mental health challenges in a person-centred manner, allowing underlying causes and triggers to be identified. This enables our specialists to deliver high quality mental health support, empowering each individual who uses our services to make a sustainable recovery and achieve the best individual outcomes.
Our nationwide network of expert psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and other healthcare professionals include a range of renowned thought leaders in the field of mental health. Our specialists are committed to remaining up to date with current research, in order to ensure that their practice is guided by the latest thinking, and adheres to robust NICE guidelines.

As well as offering a variety of treatment programmes at Priory, we are also able to deliver treatment and therapy in a range of different formats, depending on your needs and requirements. For more detailed information on each of Priory’s therapy formats, please follow the links below:
Therapy will play a huge role in your recovery and overall improvements to your wellbeing. At Priory, we have an outstanding team of therapists and counsellors who will be able to teach you valuable coping techniques as well as important life lessons. From preparing you with what to expect from therapy and then preparing you for life after treatment, our therapists, counsellors and range of other experts are here to help you.
Therapists and counsellors both have the same goal of helping you overcome the challenges you may face, but they do have their differences.
A therapist will focus on long term coping strategies that'll help you with your diagnosed conditions and challenges and will use psychotherapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy to help you manage your conditions in the future.
A counsellor will focus on the here and now, assessing you and your challenges on a day-to-day basis. They will also use broader techniques, such as humanistic therapy, to get to the root of your problems.
Medical teaching hospitals
Some of our sites are formally recognised medical teaching hospitals. This means that, in addition to operating as fully functional mental health, addiction and eating disorder treatment centres, the hospitals also host medical students on a rotational basis. These students have the opportunity to shadow our world-class specialists, working alongside them and receiving full supervision at all times. We are proud to be able to contribute to the training of young doctors and assist in the professional development of the mental health experts of the future. Having medical teaching hospitals within our network places us at the forefront of current research, meaning our patients can benefit from leading expertise in the areas of mental health, addictions and eating disorders.

Priory’s customer service team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure that those in crisis can be signposted to the best possible support, as quickly as possible. The specialist teams at our residential facilities can help to stabilise those in need of immediate assistance, including providing access to medically assisted withdrawal detoxification for drug and alcohol addictions, where required.
If you feel you are in crisis and need immediate support, our crisis information page has free resources that may be helpful.
