About

Alys has been qualified and working as an integrative therapist with adults and children since 2014. As an integrative therapist, they can pull from many approaches in a manner that best suits the client. Their main approaches to therapy include:

  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Person-centred therapy
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Existentialism

Alys has worked as a counsellor with children from the age of 5 years old within schools, and has recently added therapeutic play to their skillset. Therapeutic play gives children the space to express themselves in a medium and language that suits the child when traditional talking therapy can be challenging and unsuitable at times. Therapeutic play includes using clay, paint, sand tray therapy and role play. It is often non-directive and gives the child the opportunity to externalise and process in a safe, and non-judgemental space.

Alys has extensive experience working with bereavement with children and adults, as well as anxiety, depression and stress. One of Alys’ specialisms is working with and supporting people that have had experiences of gaslighting and related behaviours.
