Karen Katz has been working as a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) therapist for 16 years and within mental health services for 20 years. She has extensive experience working with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and other difficulties such as body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), as well as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, depression and eating disorders.

She also offers specialist evidence-based interventions for couples who are experiencing relationship distress and when one or both partners are also presenting with depression and/or anxiety. She has experience working in the perinatal period, supporting parents to be and new parents with the transition to parenthood.

She offers a collaborative, warm and nurturing approach which is also honest and challenging so that patients can approach their fears, anxiety and loss in a safe and containing space.

Position at Priory

Karen Katz is an accredited CBT therapist. She is the OCD, BDD and related disorders therapy lead/team manager and has been working in this role for 8 months.

Training

Karen Katz has a postgraduate diploma in CBT from the Institute of Psychiatry and has further qualifications in Behavioural Couples Therapy from Royal Holloway University.
