About

I am an empathic and reflective psychotherapist with a strong commitment for a positive regard of others. My sense of humour and caring attitude has proven to be great assets. I am passionate about mental health, and I believe my excellent theoretical understanding of psychological theories is complemented by a vast work experience. I see myself as a creative therapist, who possesses an analytical mind. I am open to working creatively with metaphors, the meaning created through language and visual images, with the felt sense of self, and bodily sensations. I strive to provide a safe and reflective environment to facilitate a positive change.

I have a particular interest in addiction, sensitivity, depression, loss, trauma, anxiety, personal development, cultural issues, identity issues, and relatedness. In my clinical work, I draw on attachment-based theories, person-centred therapy (PCT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), existential therapy, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, internal family systems model (IFS), transactional therapy and cognitive analytic therapy (CAT).

Research has shown that the biggest factor for successful therapy does not lie in the type of therapy used, but in the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist. Even though I am psychodynamically trained, I integrate other forms of therapy to best meet the individual needs of every patient and their unique circumstances. This two-way dynamic enables and promotes growth within the patient as well as the therapist, thus strengthening the relationship and possible outcomes of the therapeutic process.
