About

Nia is a British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) accredited cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) therapist, who has treated patients with a range of depression and anxiety disorders. She has 11 years’ experience of working with patients from a range of backgrounds and with varying presentations. She has gained experience in assessing patients using the various measures used in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) such as the SPIN for social phobia and the HAI for health anxiety.  She has experience of working therapeutically with both adults and children.

Nia has worked using different therapeutic modalities such as 12-Step and harm reduction for substance misuse, when she worked in addiction services. She has also been trained to work using the multisystemic therapy (MST) model as well as third wave CBT mindfulness and most recently CBT-E for eating disorders. Nia is also a mindfulness practitioner and is qualified to teach mindfulness interventions.

Nia possesses qualified teacher status (QTS) and has taught in secondary schools, which has enhanced her knowledge of how to teach therapeutic interventions to patients, taking into account different learning styles. Nia is currently undertaking a professional doctorate in CBT, where she is investigating the effects of mindfulness on traits of autism.
