About

Rita has worked as an integrative therapist for almost 10 years, utilising skills adapted from various training undertaken, including eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, play therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Rita has worked as an NHS nurse for over 23 years and carries across professional qualities obtained from both her nursing and midwifery carer. Rita provides a high standard of care to all of her clients, especially when dealing with such sensitive matters within a therapeutic environment. Every client’s needs are identified, and the appropriate therapeutic support is provided to help them through their journey within counselling.

Rita has worked with people of all age groups ranging from children, to teenagers and adults. Rita will adapt her work to suit the age appropriateness of the person in therapy and offers support accordingly to meet the individual’s requirement.

Rita is a very caring-natured therapist and treats clients with dignity, respect and empathy so that they can create a safe place within therapy, in order to feel comfortable enough to explore sensitive issues.

Research has shown that the biggest factor for successful therapy does not lie in the type of therapy used, but in the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist. Even though I am psychodynamically trained, I integrate other forms of therapy to best meet the individual needs of every patient and their unique circumstances. This two-way dynamic enables and promotes growth within the patient as well as the therapist, thus strengthening the relationship and possible outcomes of the therapeutic process.
