Priory’s remote therapy network allows you to access market-leading, face-to-face therapy, without having to travel to your nearest Priory treatment centre. We understand that some people would prefer to speak to a specialist in person, but might live too far away from a Priory location to allow for frequent travel. Therefore, our remote network connects you with accredited therapists and psychologists that live close to you.

Our remote network allows our expert therapists and psychologists to welcome you into their own home or therapeutic space, meaning you’ll still be able to access Priory’s high standards, in a location that’s convenient and local to you.

Accessing therapy through Priory’s remote network means you can keep your wellbeing prioritised, with minimal disruption to your lifestyle and existing commitments.

This service is available to adults over the age of 18 years, and can be accessed by people who are self-paying for our services.

Introducing our North East network

We have established partnerships with numerous highly skilled therapists based in the North East of England.

Priory’s remote therapists and psychologists

At Priory, we understand that investing in therapy is a huge step, and that you want (and deserve) life-changing, long-term results. We are dedicated to providing you with exceptional results through our remote network, equivalent to what you'd experience at one of our physical Priory locations.

All of our remote specialists are carefully vetted by Priory, to ensure they’re upholding our high standards of care. Remote therapists and psychologists go through an enhanced interview process and a clinical specialist will always be involved in their selection, personally interacting with all of the specialists before they start working with Priory. We also make sure that we thoroughly check their therapeutic space to make sure they can provide you with somewhere that’s quiet, confidential and meets the excellent standards you deserve.

The professionals that we work with have lots of experience in supporting people to overcome their mental health challenges and achieve wellbeing. Our specialists are all trained in a relevant therapeutic modality, and are fully accredited with the relevant professional body.

Qualified specialists

We work with specialists qualified under the following bodies:

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
  • British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
  • National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
  • Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

Therapy techniques

The specialists within our remote network are trained in a number of therapy techniques, all of which are approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). These include things like:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Compassion focused therapy (CFT)
  • Schema therapy
  • Interpersonal therapy (IPT)
  • Dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT)
  • Cognitive analytic therapy (CAT)
  • Integrative therapy, combining cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches
  • Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)

We'll make sure that we’re using the therapy approach that’s best suited to your needs and wishes, just like we would if you were receiving treatment at one of our hospitals or wellbeing centres.

Conditions treated

As well as offering a wide range of therapy techniques, our specialists can also offer support for a variety of mental health conditions, including:

  • Depression
  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Health anxiety
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Specific phobias
  • Agoraphobia
  • Panic disorder

Benefits of remote therapy with Priory

Accessing support through Priory’s remote network has a number of benefits. It offers:

Face-to-face therapy that’s local to you, without having to travel to a Priory site on a weekly (or more frequent) basis
Availability throughout the UK, not just where our Priory sites are located
Highly qualified and vetted specialists, with a wealth of experience in treating a variety of mental health conditions
Specialists that are part of the Priory family; we don’t outsource any support or compromise on the high level of service you’ll receive
The same governance and high regulatory standards that we have within our hospitals and wellbeing centres

Getting started

If you think that you'd benefit from therapy delivered as part of our remote network, here is a step-by-step process for getting started:

  • Call our friendly team on 0330 056 6020. We'll be able to talk through what you’re going through, find out a little bit more about you, and determine which Priory location is the closest to you. You don’t need a GP referral to access this service
  • We'll then arrange for you to go through a short triage session with a member of our team. This will last for around 15 minutes and will take place over the phone. During this session, we’ll be able to decide on the most appropriate treatment technique for you, and allocate you to the most suitable specialist in your local area. This triage session is free of charge
  • You'll then be able to commence therapy with a local specialist
