Lauren Povey
Cognitive Behaviour Therapist

Lauren Povey

At present, Lauren Povey is working within a multidisciplinary team, consisting of consultant psychiatrists, CBT therapists, child and adolescent therapists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, dialectical behaviour therapist and integrative therapists. On the inpatient wards, she also works alongside staff nurses, healthcare assistants and substance misuse specialists.

Lauren currently sees patients on a one-to-one as well as group basis. She works with patients who present with a variety of difficulties ranging from acute, mild to severe and/or chronic mental health problems, including trauma/abuse, depression and anxiety disorders. She facilitates the introduction to CBT group, the anxiety pathway group, emotion regulation workshop and assertion group.

Training

Lauren participates in monthly supervision, which is conducted by an external provider.

Group peer supervision also takes place monthly with other CBT therapists within the department. She finds regular supervision provides her with a chance to enhance her clinical knowledge and competence. This time out of a busy diary gives her the chance to reflect on her clinical practice and identify any room for improvement, therefore supporting her professional development as a therapist.
